Orion and the Dark, One Day, A Killer Paradox, and The Heartbreak Agency

The new year brings exciting new shows on Netflix. After a slow start in January, Netflix is poised to bring some highly anticipated shows and movies in February. With that said, let’s dive in to see what Netflix has in store for its viewers in February.

Orion and the Dark

Orion and the Dark, a highly anticipated animated fantasy adventure comedy film from DreamWorks Animation, follows the story of Orion, a seemingly unassuming kid with an irrational fear of everything. But most of all, Orion fears the dark. And by happenstance, Orion befriends the embodiment of the dark and slowly makes his way to enjoy life.

The cast includes Jacob Tremblay, Paul Walter Hauser, and Werner Herzog in lead roles. The movie is written by Charlie Kaufman with direction from Sean Charmatz.

Orion and the Dark will premier on February 2.

One Day

The new Netflix series One Day is based on the acclaimed David Nicholls novel of the same name.

The story follows the life of Dexter and Emma as they graduate from the University of Edinburgh. What’s interesting is that the book follows the life of the duo in each successive year in each chapter of the book. A total of 20 chapters cover 20 years in their life.

The story is of clandestine love as both go on in their life staying best of friends. While they yearn for each other, no one confesses and life goes on.

The Netflix show stars Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall in lead roles. The series is directed by Molly Manners.

One Day will be aired on February 8.

A Killer Paradox

A Killer Paradox is a highly anticipated K-Drama. The Academy Award-winning actor of Parasite, Choi Woo Shik, stars in this new thriller series. He is accompanied by Son Seok Koo and Lee Hee Jeon.

The story is about the average life of Lee Tang, a happy-to-go college student. However, Lee Tang’s life takes a turn for the worse as he finds out about his supernatural ability to detect the sinister past of people. What came as a surprise soon transformed Lee Tang into a vigilante trying to bring justice and punish the ones doing unethical deeds.

The series is slated to premiere on February 9.

The Heartbreak Agency

Ever had a heartbreak? We all know how that feels. The Heartbreak Agency follows the life of Maria as she helps her heartbroken clients get over their grief. On one such occasion, Maria helps one of her clients out of a troublesome relationship. Unbeknownst to her, the boyfriend decides to expose Maria as a heartbreak fraud. And so begins the hilarious tale of a cat and mouse chase.

The Heartbreak Agency stars Rosalie Thomass and Laurence Rupp in the lead roles. The film is directed by Shirel Peleg with screenplay by Antonia Rothe-Liermann and Malte Welding.

The Heartbreak Agency premiers on February 14, perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day.

House of Ninjas, Rhythm + Flow Italy, Einstein and the Bomb, and Avatar: The Last Airbender

House of Ninjas

Whenever we hear Ninjas, we think of Japan. This new Netflix series, House of Ninjas, is straight out of Japan. It follows the life of the Tawara family, one of the last Ninja families in modern Japan.

While the family does not talk about their Ninja heritage, they are forced to confront their past as Japan faces its greatest crisis yet.

House of Ninjas is based on the story by Kento Kaku, Yoshiaki Murao, and Takafumi Imai. The cast includes Kento Kaku, Yosuke Eguchi, Tae Kimura, Kengo Kora, and Aju Makita. The series will be directed by David Boyle.

House of Ninjas is set to premiere on February 15.

Rhythm + Flow Italy

After a successful launch in the US and France, Rhythm + Flow is all set to inaugurate its Italian version. The widely popular music competition was a hit with audiences when it launched in 2021 with its first season.

The competition follows up-and-coming rappers and nurtures them to give them the limelight they need. The Italian judges for the show include rappers Fabri Fibra, Geolier, and Rose Villain.

Rhythm + Flow Italy is coming on February 16.

Einstein and the Bomb

The celebrated theoretical physicist is coming to Netflix in a new docu-drama movie titled Einstein and the Bomb.

The story follows the life of Einstein in the later part of his life, particularly when he was involved with the Manhattan Project and saw the development of the infamous A-bomb. The film uses archival footage and dramatization to present the story of how Einstein was associated with the project.

The docu-drama stars Aidan McArdle in the role of Albert Einstein with production from BBC Studios and direction by Anthony Philipson.

Einstein and the Bomb hit the streaming site on February 19.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

We saved the best for last. After the massive hit animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender is back for a live-action adaptation.

As every fan of the series would know, Avatar follows the story of Aang, a young Avatar determined to master the four elements. The quest? To neutralize the growing threat of the Fire Nation.

The live-action series will feature an ensemble cast including Kiawentiio, Gordon Cormier, Ian Ousley, and Elizabeth Yu. The series is produced by Bonnie Benwick with cinematography from Michael Goi, Stewart Whelan, and Michael Balfry.

Avatar: The Last Airbender hits the screen on February 22.
