The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast a slight rise in both day and night temperatures across the country over the next 24 hours, starting at 9:00am on Friday.
“Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country,” said a BMD bulletin issued on Friday morning.
It said the country’s highest temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Khulna on Thursday.
The BMD also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning flashes at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions, and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, it added.
The BMD recorded the highest rainfall of 70 millimetres in Feni in the 24 hours till 6:00am on Friday.
Meanwhile, a well-marked low persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central bay, while a trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, it said.
