Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that youth must take the lead in protecting the environment and nature.
âNature must be placed at the center of development, and the protection of air, soil, and water is essential,â she said while speaking at the 15th National Nature Summit, held at Notre Dame College in Dhaka on Friday.
She said that the development approach must change, as unsafe food and water are consequences of past mistakes.
She further added that environmental protection is not only the governmentâs responsibility but also a duty of every citizen.

âSmall initiatives like planting trees, preserving water bodies, and reducing plastic pollution can significantly contribute to saving nature,â added the adviser.
She also urged the youth to actively engage in combating climate change and safeguarding the environment.
The Adviser noted that environmental conservation is a fundamental human right.
It encompasses the rights of both humans and animals. She stressed the need for a nature-centric mindset and remarked, âWe must not destroy what we cannot create.â

She also encouraged avoiding unnecessary honking, discontinuing the use of plastic bottles, and embracing sustainable lifestyles.
The summit was presided over by Father Hemanto Pius Rosario, Principal of Notre Dame College.
