The accomplices of the Awami League that are still in the country have been given the task of instigating instability at any opportunity, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said Sunday.
“We must not fall into their traps and all conspiracies must be thwarted to ensure the country’s stability and freedom from oppression,” he said.
The Jamaat Ameer came up with the remarks while speaking at a council of Jamaat-e-Islami, as a chief guest, held at Eastern Jute Mills Workers Maidan in Khulna’s Khan Jahan Ali area on Sunday.
Criticizing the AL-led government, he said, “Over the past 15 years, the Awami League turned the country into a prison. Anyone who dared to express differing views faced killings, abductions, and repression,” he said.

This country belongs to everyone, not just one group. We have yet to overcome the burdens of the past fifteen years. The nation's progress depends on collective effort and unity.”
He also urged all to come forward to contribute to building a dignified and self-reliant Bangladesh.
Accusing Awami League of destroying two key institutions--the armed forces and political organizations—the Jamaat Ameer said “They first killed 57 army personnel in the name of BDR mutiny and executed the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami through trials. Though, the students and people of the country give a befitting reply of the torture through.
