Awami League has announced a nationwide protest programme against BNP's ‘arson terrorism’ on Sunday.
"What we feared has now come true. One aspect of their movement is arson. A repeat of the brutal 2013/14 massacre has begun,” said AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader at an emergency meeting at the party's central office on Saturday.

“The protest rallies across the country will be held from 10 am to 5 pm against BNP’s arson terrorism,” he said.
He said that BNP leaders and activists clashed with the law enforcers in Matuail.

“They (BNP men) set fire to four buses. They attacked and vandalised a police van. A total of seven buses were attacked, vandalised and set on fire in the capital, injuring policemen,” Quader said.
“BNP said they have been stopped. Are the entry points to Dhaka the property of Tarique Rahman's father and grandfather? What kind of politics is it that the road will be blocked by orders from London?” Quader asked.

"We are committed to holding free and fair elections. But BNP is the main obstacle in holding a peaceful election. That proved today,” he added.
