The ruling Awami League's ‘peace and development procession’ programme ended at 6 pm on Tuesday.
The first phase of the two day rally started from the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The programme was organised in response to the BNP's 'one-point' movement for the government’s resignation.

Leaders, activists and followers participated in the rally with mini- truck, and truck.
Participants were seen with banners, festoons in the rally. Thana and ward units of Awami League and its associate bodies took part in the procession.
Crowds started from different places of the city to join the procession from 1.30pm ignoring severe heat. Most of them were seen waiting in the Ramna Park for the heat.

The Awami League's procession is to resist the BNP's “attempts to create an unstable situation,” organisers said.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader delivered a speech as chief guest at the brief inauguration while President of Dhaka South City Awami League presided over the event.
The procession started outside the Institution of Engineers, Following that, the Dhaka South City unit of Awami League marched towards Road No. 32 in Dhanmondi. The rally passed Shahbagh, Kataban, Science Laboratory, Kalabagan to reach Dhanmondi 32.

On Wednesday, the rally will be held at Tejgaon's Satrasta intersection, followed by a procession led by the Dhaka North City unit of Awami League to Mohakhali. The rally will pass Satrasta, Tibet, Nabisco, Mohakhali Bus Terminal.
The Dhaka District Awami League will hold the procession outside the metropolis on both days.
