At least 12 people, including Narayanganj city unit BNP’s Member Secretary Advocate Abu Al Yusuf Tipu Khan, were injured in an attack allegedly by post deprived leaders and activists in the newly announced Jubo and Swechasebak Dal committees of the city unit.
The violence took place in front of Narayanganj Press Club on Wednesday afternoon. Journalists and pedestrians were also among the injured.

Enraged by the committees, the post-deprived leaders and activists staged processions shortly after the announcement.
On the other hand, BNP supporters gathered in front of the press club to attend the scheduled programme on International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
Jubo Dal post aspirant Majharul Islam Joseph’s fellows equipped with locally-made weapons swooped on the BNP supporters who gathered at the scheduled event around 4pm, leaving at least 12 injured, they said.

Convenor Shakhawat Hossain Khan alleged that those carrying out the attacks on them were agents of the government who ordered them to do so.
“But they (agents) failed to foil our programme,” he said, adding that some 20 party men were injured in the attack.
Sadar Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman said they brought the situation under control by firing tear gas when two factions of the BNP locked into a clash.
