Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed on Sunday alleged that the Awami League is working with a ‘blueprint’ to create unrest in the country.
“The businessmen, top leaders and different beneficiaries of the Awami League who looted money and laundered it abroad are now living in various countries. They are all working as part of a blueprint,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, Oli also claimed that money is being sent from different countries to destabilise Bangladesh.
He said he has information that the fugitive looters, businessmen and beneficiaries of the Awami regime are sending money to Sheikh Hasina to carry out the plan. “I’m not saying this based on speculation,” he added.
The LDP chief urged the interim government to stay alert about the “fallen fascists.”
“I call upon the interim government and the people to remain vigilant so that they (the deposed fascists) cannot create any unstable or anarchic situation in the country. They must be resisted collectively,” he said.
The discussion was organised to mark the 20th founding anniversary of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
Oli said Sheikh Hasina never trusted the people as she depended on her foreign master to stay in power. “India gave her shelter. So how can India be our friend?” he asked.
Oli said the people showed the fate of those who looted the wealth of 18 crore citizens, oppressed and persecuted them, made people disappear, turned Bangladesh into a beggar state, exiled the rule of law and imprisoned justice through the August-5 mass uprising.
“Sheikh Hasina and her associates have fled to India. I urge West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to send back the Awami League leaders who have taken shelter there,” the LDP chief said.
He also warned that the advisers of the interim government facing corruption allegations will have to face trial in the future.
“Many advisers are now involved in corruption. If they think they are above the law, they are wrong. They too will be tried,” Oli said.
The LDP chairman urged the interim government to take immediate steps to hold a free and fair national election.
Oli Ahmed also warned of a conspiracy over the Chattogram Hill Tracts, saying many are plotting against the area.
He urged the army chief not to listen to anyone and to take necessary steps to protect every part of Bangladesh’s territory.
“Wherever necessary, set up camps. Don’t follow Santu Larma’s words. You must set up camps where needed — that is your duty. Every place is our territory and we must defend it,” Oli said.
