Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque has said if the BNP does not participate in the next general election, the party may collapse.
"BNP will face an existential crisis if it does not join the election. Even many people from BNP may be eager to join AL and other parties," he said.
The minister said this at a peace rally organised by Silimpur Union AL at MA Karim High School ground in Silimpur of Delduar upazila of Tangail.
The peace rally was organised to prevent BNP-Jamaat's terrorism, anarchy and conspiratorial activities.
"AL is not giving any counter programme, this peace rally has been organised so that BNP cannot create anarchy like in 2015 in the name of movement, destabilise the country and push it towards disaster," he said.
"The aim of our rallies is to make millions of AL leaders and activists aware and active," he said.
"It is the responsibility of AL leaders and activists to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and order in the country. And through the rallies, AL leaders and activists are performing their duties."
Razzaque, also the Awami League (AL) presidium member, said the AL has come to power through people's mandate. "No matter how many agitation programmes BNP holds, it will never be able to topple the government," the minister added.
Among others, AL's Education and Human Resources Secretary Shamsun Nahar Champa, Tangail District AL President Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruq, General Secretary Zaheerul Islam, MP, and local leaders spoke at the peace rally.
