In Jashore-1 (Sharsha), BNP rebel candidate and Sharsha Upazila BNP president Abul Hasan Zahid have officially withdrawn his nomination, creating a new twist in the political dynamics of this high-profile constituency ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election on Tuesday.
He formally withdrew his nomination at the office of the Assistant Returning Officer of Sharsha Upazila.
Abul Hasan Zahid said the decision was taken to maintain party discipline and as part of the overall election strategy.
Political observers note that the withdrawal strengthens the position of BNP’s official candidate, Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton, in Jashore-1. They added that the move reinforces organizational unity within the party and could put BNP in a more advantageous position in the vote count.
