Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said that the people of Bangladesh have shown the BNP the red flag as they do politics for Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, not for people.
He said this while addressing a discussion meeting on the occasion of the National Mourning Day organized by Bagha Upazila Awami League at Arani Manmohini High School ground in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi this afternoon.
Terming the BNP as a waist-broken party, the information minister said, “Mirza Fakhrul’s voice now expresses a tone of despair. Now he does not go to foreigners frequently. Because he feels that it doesn’t work.”

In the meeting, the minister said that when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took over the responsibility of the country, one crore people were refugees in India, the people of the country were displaced and houses were burnt.
“Bangabandhu rehabilitated the displaced people and took the country forward towards prosperity. But he was brutally murdered along with his family,” he added.
Marking the incident as one of the most scandalous incidents in history, the minister said, “However, under the leadership of his able daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country is moving forward again. Bangladesh has changed.”
