BNP on Thursday stood beside the families of two martyrs – Saikait Chandra Dey and Parvej – who were killed in the capital’s Shanir Akhra area during the mass uprising that toppled Sheikh Hasina’s regime.
The two families were consoled and given financial assistance on behalf of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, who is also the chief patron of a pro-BNP platform Amra ‘BNP Paribar.’
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi handed over the financial assistance to the families through a function held at an adjoining place of Matuail Adarsha High School in Shanir Akhra.
Saikat Chandra Dey and Parvez were killed in the firing of the law enforcement forces at Shanir Akhra during the anti-discrimination mass movement.
Addressing the function, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that foreign forces were used to quell the student movement in the country.
He said there was no freedom of speech in the past, but this freedom is there in the country during the present interim government. “No one is to go to Aynaghar (the secret prison) for his or her voice against the interim government now. BNP has waged the movement for such an environment,” he said.
Talking about the electricity crisis, the BNP senior joint secretary general said Rampal Power Plant was constructed with low quality equipment only to satisfy India.
Adviser of Amra BNP Paribar Ashraf Uddin Bakul and local BNP leaders were present.
