BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday termed the interim governmentâs recent visit to China a âmajor successâ, highlighting Beijingâs commitment to continued investment in Bangladesh.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Kalibari, Thakurgaon, before an Eid greetings exchange and discussion with party leaders and activists, Fakhrul said, âDuring the previous Awami League government, China had maintained unilateral ties with a single party. However, with the change in government, China has also adjusted its approach.â
"China is a prosperous and the second largest trading country. China has promised to continue investing in Bangladesh's business sector in the coming days. This is undoubtedly hopeful for us," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the interim government assumed power with BNPâs support following a mass uprising by students and the public. He also noted that a reform commission has been established to initiate state reforms, with BNP having already submitted its opinions for consideration.
âThe commission will engage in discussions with BNP and other political parties in the future. The next election will be held based on consensus among all parties,â he said.
He further clarified that reforms and elections are separate issues, saying, âReforms will continue independently, and elections will proceed accordingly. As a political party, we maintain a good relationship with the interim government,â he added.
