The Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the university vice-chancellor demanding measures to prevent dengue and ensure cleanliness on the campus.

The memorandum was submitted as part of the party’s nationwide “Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026,” launched by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman.

A delegation led by Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A B M Obaidul Islam at his office.

After submitting the memorandum, Chhatra Dal leaders distributed awareness leaflets among students from the VC Chattar to TSC.

Earlier, speaking at a brief press briefing, DU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon said they had urged the university administration to conduct regular and effective campaigns to prevent dengue and maintain environmental cleanliness on campus.

“We have also urged the administration to implement the specific demands mentioned in the memorandum we submitted to the vice-chancellor on August 4, including the installation of dustbins and ensuring regular cleanliness drives,” Shipon said.

President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas said the organisation would continue implementing dengue prevention and cleanliness programmes on its own while also offering voluntary support to the university and hall administrations if they undertake larger-scale initiatives involving students.

He said the organisation’s hall units would submit memorandums to their respective hall administrations and hold discussions on the issue from Monday, while distributing awareness leaflets among residential students.
