BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited Labaid Specialised Hospital on Friday to pay his respects to the interim government adviser AF Hassan Ariff, who passed away in the afternoon.
The BNP leader arrived at the hospital around 5:30 pm and talked to the bereaved family members.
He visited the mortal remains of the adviser to show his respect.
Later, speaking to reporters, Fakhrul described Hassan Ariff as not only a renowned lawyer but also a man who deeply believed in democracy.
“I believe he was very much needed during this period of democratic transition. Personally, I have lost a good soul, and the country has lost a patriotic person, he said.
Adviser AF Hassan Ariff passes away
The BNP leaders said the void left by the death of Hassan Ariff would not be easily filled.
Fakhrul prayed for the salvation of Ariff’s departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Land, passed away at Labaid Specialised Hospital in the capital.
Ariff collapsed while having lunch at home and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 3:10 pm.
