Bangladesh Congress candidate for Bogura-4 constituency Ashraful Alom, better known as “Hero Alom” has been allegedly attacked by Awami League supporters while he was campaigning for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7.
Hero Alom also alleged that the attackers snatched his mobile phone.
The incident took place in Muradpur Bazar area of Nandigram upazila on Saturday evening.
Alom said that he went to Muradpur Bazar in the evening with his leaders and activists to conduct his election campaigning. But before the campaign started, some supporters of ‘boat’, the AL electoral symbol, came and obstructed the campaigning.
“There were five of them," the candidate for Bangladesh Congress relayed. "They came and said you have to turn off the mike. There will be no campaigning for anyone other than the boat.”
"Then seeing the video being taken on my phone, they snatched the mobile," he added.
Later, Nandigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge Azgir Hossain visited the spot.
The OC said, “There was a little trouble there, but I did not get anything like the candidate Hero Alam alleged.”
