Jatiya Party (JaPa) finally announced on Wednesday that it will participate in the upcoming 12th parliamentary election which is set to be held on January 7.
Jatiya Party yet to take final decision on joining polls: Chunnu
The party will field candidates in all the 300 seats, said Jatiya Party Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu at a press briefing at the party chairman's Banani office this afternoon.
Chunnu said party chairman GM Quader made the decision on joining the upcoming parliamentary election based on the assurance from all concerned including the Election Commission that the 12th parliamentary election will be a free, fair and a credible one.
Jatiya Party to start selling nomination forms Monday
The Jatiya Party secretary general said the party will contest each seat independently rather than joining any alliances.
"Jatiya Party will not enter any alliance. We will field candidates in all 300 seats,” said Chunnu adding ,“As of noon, we have sold nearly 1,400 nomination forms. More than one interested candidate has collected the nomination forms in almost every seat.”
Chunnu said the party will not compromise any seats this time.

"We won't engage in seat-sharing with any party," Chunnu said. "Jatiya Party upholds transparent politics, maintaining a clean record free from corruption allegations. Over the past 33 years, people have appreciated our peace-centric approach. We aim to contest for all 300 seats."
