In a statement, party acting office secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince said Leon remained missing since Tuesday noon as his colleagues and family members could not trace him despite hectic search at different places, including police stations.
“It’s the assumption of Leon’s colleagues and family members that law enforcers arrested him and kept the information secret,” he said.
Prince said hoped that the government would present him before the public immediately. “Otherwise, the government and law enforcement agencies won't be able to avoid the responsibility if anything bad happens.”
He alleged that police earlier denied arresting Chhatra Dal leaders Mostafizur Rahman and Mizanur Rahman Mizan on November 12, but they were handed over to the police stations four-five days after keeping them in secret places.
The BNP leader also said police are raiding the houses of their party leaders and activists in the capital as different ‘false’ cases were filed against them recently.
He said the law enforcers are harassing the family members of BNP leaders and workers and misbehaving with them during the raids.
Prince strongly condemned that oppression on BNP men and demanded the withdrawal of the cases filed against them.
On November 12, a total of 11 buses were torched at different parts of Dhaka. Police filed 16 cases accusing several hundred BNP leaders and activists on charges of torching the vehicles.
