Kazi Rawnaqul Islam Shrabon has been removed from the post of president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, for his ‘failure’ to discharge his duties properly during BNP’s sit-in programme at the entrances of the capital on July 29.
JCD's existing committee vice-president Rashed Iqbal Khan has been made the acting president of the organisation.
A press release, signed by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Tuesday said Rashed Iqbal will serve as the acting president of the JCD Central Committee.
“The decision will remain in force until further notice,” the press release reads.
A party senior leader said the top leadership of BNP was not satisfied with Shrabon’s role in the sit-in programme at the entrances of Dhaka on July 29. “He was removed from the post as the party’s highest policymakers think that he could not discharge the responsibilities given to him on July 29.”
On April 17, 2022, BNP announced a five-member partial committee of the JCD making its president, Rashed Iqbal Khan senior vice-president, and Saif Mohammad Jewel the general secretary.
