BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday walked to the party’s chairperson’s Gulshan office, drawing attention for the unusual mode of travel.
He reached the office at around 4:00pm, according to BNP Gulshan office sources and eyewitnesses.
Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman performed Friday prayers at the Naval Headquarters mosque before returning to his Gulshan-2 residence.
From there, he walked to the Gulshan office, reaching it within 10 minutes.
BNP warns rebel candidates to withdraw before deadline, or face action
Since returning to Bangladesh from London on December 25 last year after 17 years in exile, Tarique Rahman has been working at the Gulshan office almost daily.
However, his Friday’s walk surprised many, as it came despite the security risks usually associated with the movement of senior political leaders.
