A middle-aged tea seller has slammed BNP men who allegedly vandalised her tea stall near Govt Bangla College in the capital’s Mirpur.

“First they stormed into my shop, damaged cups and utensils necessary to run my shop. Then they kicked my mother, who happened to be there at the shop at that time… My elderly mother was also beaten up,” she said.
“We are people who work hard every day to make ends meet,” she told the media.
“Should this be the way for a party to try to grab state power? By destroying our means of livelihood?” — she questioned.

The tea shop reportedly came under attack when a group of BNP activists “unleashed violence” from the party’s march today.
A student said that as the rally came in front of Govt Bangla College, a group of BNP activists started throwing brick chips and vandalised two gates when classes were going on.
"As one group vandalised the gate, others were seen setting a motorcycle on fire,” the student said.

“They broke the gates and also shattered windows of buildings — even library buildings were not spared,” said another student, adding that it resulted in a clash between Chhatra League activists and BNP that lasted for 40 minutes.
Video clips of a burning motorcycle alongside a national flag in front of the college have already gone viral.
