Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar on Monday strongly condemned and rejected a Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) report, terming its claim of zero female participation in the party's central leadership “false and misleading”.
In a statement, he refuted TIB's research report titled “Institutional Governance of Political Parties in Bangladesh” published on November 1.
Porwar clarified that Jamaat practised internal democracy in accordance with its constitution across all organisational levels, with active female participation and designated women's committees.
He highlighted that the party's Central Working Council currently included 21 women members, while the Central Majlis-e-Shura comprises 122 women members. Additionally, female members account for nearly 43 percent of the party's total Rokons (Members).
Terming the report from a responsible organisation like TIB unwanted and irresponsible, the Jamaat leader urged the anti-corruption watchdog to exercise greater caution and responsibility in future publications regarding the party.
