BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed optimism that the bilateral meeting between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead to positive outcomes for the peoples of both Bangladesh and India.
“This will undoubtedly benefit the people of Bangladesh and the people of India - the people of both countries,” he said, replying to a question from reporters at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office on Friday evening.

Prof Yunus and Modi sat in the first bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok on Friday morning.
The BNP secretary general said the meeting has created a ray of hope (in the bilateral relations).
Noting that the bitterness had developed in the relations between Bangladesh and India, he said, “It (This meeting) has created the possibility that the bitterness won’t escalate further or it may subside.”
Mirza Fakhrul said, “From what I have seen, I feel that both of them are quite sincere in this matter (to reduce the bitterness).”
Earlier, the BNP Secretary General exchanged Eid greetings with sports officials, organizations and sportspersons there.
Among the organizations and sportspersons were Mahbubul Anam, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Rumman Bin Wali Sabbir, Niyamur Rashid Rahul, Md. Ashraful, Habibul Bashar Sumon, Riaz Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed Naqib, Abu Dawood Shamsuddoza Chowdhury Don, Maishikur Rahman Real, Fahim Sinha, Kazi Mohiuddin Bulbul, Selim Shahed, Syed Borhanul Hossain Pappu, Akram Hossain Sabuj and Ibrahim Khalil were present.
BNP Dhaka North City Unit convener and former national football captain Aminul Haque was also present.
The BNP Secretary General informed that they discussed various problems related sportspersons as well as how the sports sector could be improved in the function.
Later, the guests, including the athletes, were treated to desserts.
