Grand Master Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh finished 13th in the 29th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival, Masters event, securing six points after the 9th and last round matches held in the UAE city of Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
After the day's last round matches, GM Ziaur Rahman bagged 6 points to share the 8th place jointly with some other players, But, he was placed 13th in the tie-breaking system.
IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh became 79th with 4 5 points, FM Tahsin Tazwar Zia was placed 113th with 3.5 points while GM Enamul Hossain Razib finished 123rd with 3 points.
In the day's 9th and last round matches, GM Ziaur Rahman won against GM Varthik Venkataraman of India, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman drew with IM Dushyant Sharma of India, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia won against FM Abdulrahman Mohammad Al Taher of UAE while GM Enamul Hossain lost to IM Aziz Husain of Qatar.
GM Fedoseev Vladimir of Slovenia became champion and GM Xu Xiangyu of China finished runner-up, securing 7 points each.
A total 145 players from 24 countries including 41 grandmasters, 6 women’s grandmasters, 54 International Masters and 3 women’s International Masters participated in the event.
