Warriors won the game scoring 16 runs in the last overs of the match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday when Hider smashed a four and a six and to guide his team to a memorable victory.
“In order to qualify for the playoffs, it was important for us to win this game. If we lost this game, we would have been out of the race. As we won this game, we still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs. We have to win all of the remaining four matches or at least three games,” Hider told the media after the day’s match.
Hider said he was confident to win the match in spite of a big challenge of chasing 16 runs in the last over. He said: “I was confident (to win the match) because I have been working on big shots for a long time now. I learned how to play under pressure in this situation. At the same time, we had David Malan in the wicket, who was enough to keep the confidence up.”
Warriors started this season of BPL winning their maiden game against Rangpur Rangers. But in the second match, they capitulated to Dhaka Platoon. However, they came back strongly with the victory over Rangpur Rangers in their 3rd game.
But after that, they lost four games in a row which made their possibility to qualify for the playoffs tough. So, the win against the challengers came as a blessing for them.
Warriors will take on Sylhet Thunder and Khulna Tigers in their last four games on January 2, 7, 8 and 10 respectively. Their first game against Thunder will take place at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and the remaining matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
