Bangladesh will play Japan in their 2nd Group B match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup on Monday (December 11) at 5:30 pm at the ACC Academy ground in Dubai, the UAE.
Bangladesh made a flying start in the four-team Group B outplaying hosts the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 61 runs in their first match at the same venue on Saturday.
Sri Lanka beat Japan by seven wickets at the ACC Academy ground -2 in Dubai, also on Saturday.
After the first-round matches, both the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have secured two points each, but the islanders dominated the Group B with better run rate then that of Bangladesh.
In the last Group B match, two formidable sides-- Sri Lanka and Bangladesh -- will face each other on Wednesday (December 13) also at 5:30 pm at the same venue .
In their first match on last Saturday, Bangladesh youth team batted first and scored 228 runs for all in 49.3 overs, featuring 74 runs in 17.2 overs in the opening stand.
Opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli contributed the match highest 71 runs off 102 balls hitting three fours and a six while another opener Jishan Alam scored 56- ball 42 runs with five hits to the fence.
Besides, two down Ariful Islam (22), lower order Iqbal Hossain Emon (18), one down Chowdhury M Rizwan (12) were the other notable contributors for Bangladesh.
Dhruv Parashar of the UAE made the major damage in Bangladesh innings grabbing six wickets for 44 runs in 9.3 overs while Aayan Afzal Khan took two wickets for 29 runs in his 10 overs bowling.
In reply, the hosts the UAE were all out for 167 runs in 47.4 overs.
Lower order Hardik Pal (not out 30), Tanish Suri (27), Maroof Merchant (25), Aryansh Sharma (22), Akshat Rai (16) and Ammar Badami (14) were the major scorers for UAE.
Parvez Rahman Jibon and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby of Bangladesh claimed four wickets each conceding 26 and 32 runs respectively.
