The 60-year-old Indian coach will prepare Bangladesh Women’s Hockey team for their maiden eight-team Women’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Qualifiers, scheduled to be held in Singapore from September 9–15 this year.
Dr Ajay Kumar Bansal is currently working as Administrator of MDC National Stadium in New Delhi and Administrative Officer of National Hockey Academy in India.
He has been holding many positions in Indian hockey since 1987.
He started his career as head coach of different state level club of India including Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand.
He acted as Director Coaching cum Chief Coach for SAI-AIR INDIA National Hockey Academy in New Delhi from 1995 to 2008.
Ajay also worked as assistant coach for the Indian Men Hockey team in 2000, head coach of India U-16 Hockey Team in 2000, head coach of U-18 Indian Hockey Team from 2000 to 2003, head coach Indian Women Hockey Team from 2000 to 2002, head coach India U-21 national team in 2007 to 2010 and head coach India national Sr. Team in 2008.
He won the highest award for coaches in India known as ‘Dronacharya Award’.
