Bangladesh have been placed in the tough Group A along with defending champions South Korea, runners-up Japan, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei while Group B comprises hosts India, PR China, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Mongolia.
Bangladesh will play defending champions South Korea in the opening match on August 21.
In their next matches, Bangladesh women’s team will play Japan on August 23, Chinese Taipei on August 25 and Uzbekistan on August 26.
Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) announced a 19-member Bangladesh squad, including 14 players and five officials, for their maiden Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship at a press conference at the federation office on Saturday.
BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor disclosed the details of the meet at the function where Youth and Sports secretary Dr M Zafar Uddin was present.
Manager of Bangladesh team Nurul Haque Biswas, coach Md Towhidur Rahman and captain Alpona Akter also spoke on the occasion.
Coach of Bangladesh team Md Touhidur Rahman said the girls are motivated and can do well in the competition.
“We’re going to participate for the first time in this competition. But, our girls are motivated. Some of our players have played international matches. I believe they’ll do well in the competition,” he said.
Bangladesh captain Alpona Akter said that they will give their best performance in the competition. “We worked hard. Now our main task is to give our best performance in the competition,” she said.
