The 2ndTest was hosted by Kolkata at the famous Eden Gardens. It was also the first-ever pink-ball cricket in the soil of the sub-continent. Bangladesh failed to make any sort of resistance in the game as they almost pipped in every over of the game by the Indian bowling attacks.
“Bangladesh played this series without two of their most experienced cricketers- Shakib (Al Hasan) and Tamim (Iqbal). But Mushfiqur (Rahim) and Mahmudullah (Riyad) were there, but only two players cannot win the Test for you. The rest of the players are young. So,they will play more to gather more experiences,” Virat told the media in the post-match media briefing.
“If you play two Test matches after one and a half year, then you won’t really understand how to handle the different situation in a Test match, you won’t really understand how to play under pressure. They have the skill-set to play international cricket. But the most important thing is they need to get those match situation regularly to understand how to get better in it,” Indian captain further added.
According to Virat, Bangladesh board and the players have to figure out what the Test cricket means, and this is the way only to get better in this form of the cricket and this is the only way to go forward.
In the historic triumph, Virat struck his 27th Test hundred, which is also his 70th centuries in international cricket. He just needs to score two more hundred to be the second Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to record most centuries in a career.
