Bangladesh Women's team clinched the silver medal in the Women's Group C category of the 44th World Chess Olympiad held in Chennai, India from July 29 to August 9, 2022.
In this year's Chess Olympiad, the Group C formed with 61 to 90 seeded teams of the women's division.
Albania won the gold medal in Group C category securing 13 points.
Later, the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and hosts the All-India Chess Federation decided to award the silver medals to the second-placed teams in the category group and the Bangladesh women's team won the silver medal.
Head of Delegation of Indian Team, who is attending the Asian Youth Chess Championship in Bali, Indonesia, handed over the silver medal to the Bangladesh Women's Chess Team Captain and National Instructor Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly on Saturday.
WCM Jannatul Ferdous, WCM Ahmed Walijha, WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WFM Noshin Anjum and Umme Taslima Prativa Talukdar participated for Bangladesh Women's team in this year's Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
