Bangladesh are currently taking on Pakistan in the ongoing rain-disrupted Dhaka Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh recently announced an 18-member squad for the New Zealand tour including Shakib. Within a couple of hours after the announcement, Shakib submitted a letter to BCB asking for leave for “family duty”.
The first Test of the New Zealand tour will take place on January 1, and the second Test will be played from January 9.
