Salahuddin-led Sommillito Parisad won 14 posts – president, senior vice president, three vice presidents (out of four) and nine executive committee members (out of 15).
His panel competed against Sheikh Mohammad Aslam-led 19-member Samonnya Parishad, apart from two independent presidential candidates Badal Roy and Shafiqul Islam Manik, independent vice president candidate Tabith Awal and four other Independent EC member candidates.
A total of 135 out of 139 councillors exercised their franchise to elect one president, one senior vice-president, four vice-presidents and 15 EC members from 2pm to 6pm in Saturday's poll at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city.
Salahuddin was elected president in 2008, 2012, 2016 polls. He emerged victorious bagging 94 votes, out of 135 cast in this year’s election.
His nearest rival, long time vice-president of BFF and independent candidate Badal Roy got 40 votes while another presidential candidate Shafiqul Islam Manik received only one vote.
Badal Roy had announced sitting out the polls after expiry of the deadline but decided to give it a shot just the night before the election. He was absent at the election venue.
Salahuddin seemed to be facing a big challenge when Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin declared himself as a presidential candidate. But, few days before the election, Tafarder declined to compete.
Later, both Manik and Badal failed to pose a challenge for Salahuddin.
Sitting Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy was reelected for the fourth consecutive term. He secured 91 votes while his lone rival and former national striker Sheikh Mohammad Aslam got 44 votes.
Bashundhara Kings President Imarul Hasan (89 votes), Kazi Nabil Ahmed of Dhaka Abahani (81) and Ataur Rahman Manik, chairman of Toma Group (75 votes) were elected vice-presidents from Sommillito Parishad.
Independent candidate Tabith Awal and Somonnaya Parishad candidate Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, contesting for the other vice-president post, got 65 votes each.
The BFF councilors will vote again on Oct 31 at the BFF House to choose any one of them as vice-president.
Among the 15 EC members, nine were elected from Kazi Salahuddin- led Sommillito Parishad while the rest six were elected from Aslam-led Samonnaya Parishad.
Elected EC members from Sommillito Parishad are: Zakir Hosssin Chowdhury (87 votes), Bijon Barua (85), Nurul Islam Nuru (84), Mohiuddin Ahmed Salim (84), Satyajit Das Rupu (76), Elias Hosssin (75), Imtiaz Hamid Sabuj (74), Mahfuza Akhter Kiron (70) and Harun ur Rashid (70).
Elected from Samonnaya Parishad panel are: Abdul Wadud Pintu (86), Arif Hossain Moon (85), Tipu Sultan (81), Ameer Khan (69), Mohammad Saiful Islam (69) and Mohidur Rahman Miraj (68).
Besides, five members of last BFF executive committee, who lost in the election are: Badal Roy (president candidate), Amirul Islam Babu (vice-president candidate), Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Amit Khan Shuvro and Iqbal Hosssin (member candidates).
Before the poll, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BFF also took place at the same venue. The financial statement was presented at the AGM and passed without any major complain.
Three— Tarafdar Md Ruhul Amin of Chattogram Abahani, Anjan Chowdhury Pintu from Pabna and Khondokar Nazmul Islam from Faridpur— out of 139 councillors were absent at the AGM.
