The federation is also planning to hold several national and international kabaddi competitions next year.
Inspector General of Police and President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary BPM (Bar) came up with the remarks in a programme in Seminar Hall of Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police and General Secretary of BKF Habibur Rahman and other BKF officials were also present on the occasion.
“We are working on it. It will be the biggest national competition in the sports history of Bangladesh. We hope at least 1.5 lakh students will play kabaddi in 550 venues across the country,” said IGP Patwary.
About the competition, IGP Patwary, said that “The group matches of the competition are split into four phases in Unions, Upazilas, Districts and Divisions level while the final phase of the competition will be held in Dhaka.”
He also focused on the recent success of Bangladesh Police in different fields of sports -- football, cricket, handball, volleyball, athletics, judo and wrestling.
