World celebrated sportsmen will compete in the 32nd version of the 17-day multi-sports Olympics Games Tokyo 2020 in Japan from July 24 to Aug 9 for 339 gold medals of 33 disciplines of sports.
Six Bangladeshi athletes—shooters M Anwar Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Risatul Islam and Umme Zakia Sultana, archer Beauty Roy and swimmer M Ariful Islam—got scholarship from Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) complying to an appeal from BOA.
Among the six selected Bangladeshi athletes, swimmer M Ariful Islam now taking higher training in France while the rest five athletes, now undergoing training at home from September 2017 and will continue before Olympics.
BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza handed over the scholarship cheque to four shooters at a function at the BOA board room on Monday.
BOA vice president Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Secretary General Asaduzzaman Kohinoor and Treasurer Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed Chapal were also present on the occasion.
