Fortis FC will play Brothers Union Club in the five-team Group A match of the Federation Cup Football’ 2024-25 at 2:45 pm at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Police FC will face Dhaka Wanderers Club in the other Group A match also at 2:45 pm at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
Mediocre Fortis SC topped the Group A list with unbeaten runs securing seven points from three matches with two win and a draw while the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club are in the 3rd slot collecting three points from two matches with one win and one loss.
After playing two group matches each, Police FC are in the 4th place collecting one point with a draw and a defeat while old horse Dhaka Wanderers Club remained at the bottom in the group without any points losing both the match.
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings are in the 2nd slot in Group A securing six points from three matches with two win and one defeat.
In the Group B, Rahmatganj MFS and Dhaka Abahani Limited moved into the qualifier stage with two matches spare securing full six points each from straight two matches eliminating last time runners-up Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool and Chittagong Abahani Limited.
Dhaka Abahani Limited, without any foreign booters, smartly booked seat for qualifiers shocking their traditional rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC, beating them by 1-0 goal in titans battle last Tuesday.
Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool earned one point from two matches while Chittagong Abahani Ltd also bagged one point playing three matches.
Grouping of Federation Cup:
Group A - Bashundhara Kings, Bangladesh Police FC, Fortis FC, Brothers Union Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club
Group B - Mohammedan SC Ltd, Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Chattagram Abahani Ltd, Rahmatganj MFS and Fakirerpool Youngmen's Club.
Later, top two teams from each of the two groups will play in the meet's next round (qualification and elimination) like the Franchisee cricket league.
