Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd smartly reached the semifinal of the Federation Cup Football' 2022-23 eliminating Chittagong Abahani Ltd by 4-1 goals in the 3rd quarterfinal at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla Tuesday afternoon.
The traditional black and whites Mohammedan will play league champions Bashundhara Kings in the first semifinal on May 9 at 3:15 pm at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings made a semifinal berth as the first team eliminating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 3-1 goals in the first quarterfinal.
Dhaka Abahani too booked a seat for the last four stage eliminating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 1-0 in the 2nd quarterfinal.
But it was Mohammedan's superb display against Ctg Abahani in the day's 3rd quarterfinal, that was the standout performance of the day.
Mohammedan SC dominated the first half and deservedly led 2-0.
Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel put Mohammedan SC ahead in the 19th minute (1-0) while Uzbek midfielder Muzaffar Muzzaffarov doubled the Mohammedan margin in the 34th minute(2-0).
Mali striker Souleymane Diabate scored two more goals for Mohammedan SC in the 48th and 70th minutes respectively to take a comfortable 4-0 lead over the port city team.
Nigerian medio Candya Agbane scored the consolation goal for Chittagong Abahani in the 77th minute (4-1).
In the 4th and last quarterfinal, Sheikh Russel KC will meet Rahmatganj MFS on May 2 at 3:15 pm at Bir Shrestha Fl Lt Matiur Stadium in Munshiganj.
The winners of the 4th quarter finals will play the 2nd semifinal on May 16, also at 3:15 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla against former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited.
The final match between the two winning semifinalists will be held on May 30 at 3:15 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla
The 3rd-place deciding match between two losing semifinalists will be held on May 23 at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
