Before returning to play international cricket, cricketers have a good individual programme in two different phases. Fourteen cricketers joined the first phase which ended before the Eid. More cricketers joined the programme after it resumed after the Eid holidays.
Soumya was among cricketer who joined the programme after Eid.
“It’s a relief that we're going to back to international cricket. It felt bad when we saw England back to international cricket (but, we couldn't). At the same, it was good to see that cricket made a comeback overcoming the fear of the pandemic. Now we came to know that we also have a confirmed tour in the coming months. It really feels good,” Soumya told the media after the practice of the last of the second phase of the individual training programme.
In this programme, every participating cricketer has to follow a strict safety measure so that the can’t get close to another person which can expose them to coronavirus. Soumya said this initiative is welcomed to them as it ensures the safety of the cricketers and support staff.
“Safety should get priority over everything. We're part of the team which is like a family. We should follow the safety measure. It'll keep all of us safe,” Soumya added.
“We couldn’t play any cricket during the lockdown. Otherwise, it was a good break as we got the chance to spend more time with family. It was tough during the early days. But we had to adjust later,” the southpaw added.
Along with Soumya, Taijul Islam and Afif Hossain were also spotted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium during their personal training session.
From the Bangladesh Women Cricket Team, Jahanara Alam and Nahida Akter also took part in the individual training programme on Thursday.
