“The Indian team will arrive Dhaka on August 19. They will play friendly matches against our women’s team. But, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) have not fixed the fixture yet,” said a BHF official on Friday.
Bangladesh Women’s Hockey team will play matches ahead of their maiden eight-team Women’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Qualifiers, scheduled to be held in Singapore from September 9–15 this year.
The team are likely to leave Dhaka for Singapore on September 4.
Bangladesh women’s hockey team have been put on tough Pool B along with hosts Singapore, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong while Group A comprises Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
In their opening match, Bangladesh team will face Hong Kong China on September 9 and meet Uzbekistan on September 11 in the second game.
In their last match of Pool B, Bangladesh girls will play against hosts Singapore on September 12.
The top two teams will advance to the main round, slated for next year, where China, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand lie in wait.
The top two teams of the eight-team fray will join China, Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2020 and the qualifier for the Hockey Junior World Cup 2021.
