Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has said she will attend Sunday's FIFA World Cup final after receiving an invitation from US President Donald Trump, marking their first meeting since December following months of public disagreements.
Speaking to Mexican media, Sheinbaum said she accepted the invitation because it came directly from the US president.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney would also attend the match and that she would provide further details in a recorded message on Sunday, she added.
Sheinbaum did not attend the tournament's opening match in Mexico City, where the host nation defeated South Africa 2-0. Instead, she gave her ticket to a young Indigenous woman.
Relations between Sheinbaum and Trump have remained strained in recent months over a range of issues, including security and trade. Their last meeting took place during the World Cup draw in December.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, marking the first time the tournament has been jointly staged by the three North American countries.
Defending champions Argentina are set to face Spain in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Spain's King Felipe VI is also expected to attend the title decider.
