Premier Hockey: Mariner Youngs, Abahani Ltd maintain all-win run


Club Cup champions Dhaka Mariner Youngs’ Club and former league champions Dhaka Abahani Limited maintained all-win run in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League’2021 beating their rivals comfortably at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Wednesday.

Defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC also maintained their all win run in the league securing full 21 points from seven matches.

In the day’s first match, Dhaka Mariner Youngs’ Club maintained their top slot in the league table securing full 27 points from straight nine matches crushing Wari Club by 7-1 goal Wednesday afternoon.

Captain Mamunur Rahman Chayan, Shohanur Rahman and Shukhjeet struck two goals each while Fazle Hossain Rabbi scored the remaining goal for the Arambagh outfit Mariner Youngs. Mohabat scored the face-saving goal for Wari Club.

In the day’s other match, coming from behind Dhaka Abahani Limited outplayed Ajax Sporting Club by 5-1 goal to secure full 24 points from straight eight outings.

Pakistani player Muhammad Aleem Bilal struck three while another Pakistani Muhammad Dilbar contributed two goals for the sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani.
