Premier League clubs will hold a minute’s silence during this weekend’s opening round of matches in memory of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, the league confirmed Tuesday.
Jota and Silva died in a car accident in Spain in July. The Premier League has been in contact with Liverpool to determine the most fitting way to pay tribute.
In addition to the pre-match silence, players from all clubs will wear black armbands, and tribute messages and images will be shared for display on stadium big screens.

On Sunday, before the Community Shield match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace at Wembley, wreaths were placed on the pitch and a minute’s silence was observed. However, a small group of Palace supporters disrupted the silence, prompting an immediate reaction from other fans, including Palace supporters, who sought to restore order.
