Country’s 60 Roll ball players (Men and Women) were initially selected for the 10-day camp, said Bangladesh Roll ball Federation in a press release.
After the residential camp, the federation will shortlist 40 players on September 7 for a long-term training camp and to form a national team for the upcoming Roll Ball World Cup 2019, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 12 to 19.
The Prime Minister’s private industry and investment adviser and Abahani Limited Chairman Salman F Rahman formally inaugurated the camp on the day.
“We have successfully arranged Roller Skating World Championship here. 68 nations took part in the mega event. It proved that the country have got enough success in Roller Skating,” he said.
“We are going to build the much-awaited Sheikh Kamal Sports Complex at the surroundings of Abahani Limited. I will try to keep space there for Roll ball players,” Salman F Rahman added.
Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Affairs in the Prime Minister's Office and Chairman of Bangladesh Roll ball Federation Abul Kalam Azad and General Secretary Asiful Hasan were also present on the occasion.
“Ministry of Youth and Sports and National Sports Council are taking steps for the development of country’s sports. Mini Stadium in Upazilas will be built for our boys and girls. Roller Skating is also a part of it. I hope Roller Skating will march forward in near future”, said Abul Kalam Azad.
