The Bangladeshi stalwart will board a Bangladesh-bound flight early Tuesday (Bangladesh time) from New York and is due to reach Dhaka Tuesday midnight.
The star allrounder will undergo a Covid-19 test on Wednesday (Sept 2) upon his return and move to BKSP to join an individual fitness and training programme if he tests negative. Otherwise, he will go for isolation at home.
Shakib decided to practise at BKSP so that he can get help from his favourite coaches -- Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Mohammad Salahuddin --who will help Shakib prepare for his comeback.
Shakib went to the USA in March this year to join his wife who was then expecting a baby. Shakib’s wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir, gave birth to their second daughter in April.
The 33-year-old allrounder has been serving a two-year-long ban, with one year suspended, due to failing to report corrupt approaches made to him.
He is expected to return to play cricket on October 29 this year as his suspension period will end on October 28.
Earlier in a media interaction, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassn said the board expects Shakib to make his comeback during the Sri Lanka tour which will start on October 24.
However, Shakib might not be part of the Bangladesh team from the beginning of the series. He might be available from the second Test of the three-match Test series.
Bangladesh was supposed to miss the service of Shakib in many international matches. But the Covid-19 situation prevented the cricket world from holding any international game for the last few months and thus Bangladesh did not miss Shakib that much.
The allrounder represented Bangladesh in 56 Tests, 206 ODIs and 76 T20 Internationals, and amassed 3862, 6323 and 1567 runs respectively. He also hit 14 centuries and 80 half-centuries.
Meanwhile, South African Head Coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team Russell Domingo along with Bangladesh fielding coach Ryan Cook, also from South African, is expected to arrive in Dhaka within a day or two ahead of the Bangladesh tour to Sri Lanka.

The Bangladesh team will fly for Sri Lanka on September 27 or 28 after making short training here starting on September 23.
But, Bangladesh bowling consultant and former Kiwis legendary cricketer Daniel Vettori and former New Zealand batsman Craig McMillan, who was appointed Bangladesh’s batting consultant recently for the Tour of Sri Lanka 2020, will join the Bangladesh Cricket team in Sri Lanka.
