Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh has made an impressive climb of 68 places to reach 16th position in the ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings, thanks to his outstanding performances in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against England.
During the series, Shanto scored 51, 46 not out, and 47 not out, which earned him the Player of the Series award and helped Bangladesh clinch the series 2-1 at home.
Shanto was one of the best batsmen in the series, showcasing his class and maturity at the crease. He played a crucial role in Bangladesh's victory in the second match, scoring an unbeaten 46 to guide his team to a comfortable seven-wicket win.
In the final match of the series, he played a patient knock of 47 not out to help his team post a challenging total of 158/2.
Before the T20I series, Bangladesh played a three-match ODI series against England which they lost 2-1. Shanto hit a fifty in the last ODI in Chattogram, which Bangladesh won.
Shanto's impressive form is not just limited to the international level. He was also one of the best batsmen in the last season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The left-handed batsman's rise to stardom has been a long time coming, but his recent performances have cemented his place as one of Bangladesh's top batsmen in the T20 format.
Bangladesh will be hoping that Shanto can continue his impressive run of form when they take on Ireland in a three-match ODI series starting on March 18 in Sylhet.
