Before this match, South Africa lost respectively to England, Bangladesh and India. They are now on the cliff edge of getting eliminated from the race of semi-finals. If they fail to bounce back in this game, it will ruin most of their chances to march to the last four of the showpiece event.
West Indies, on the other hand, played two matches so far and won against Pakistan but lost to Australia.
Jason Holder, the West Indian captain, said considering the overcast condition they have decided to bowl first.
“We want to make the best use of the wicket. Overcast condition is all around and the rain is expected, so we have opted to bowl first,” Jason told the media while talking to the broadcaster.
South African captain Faf du Plessis also said he would have decided to bowl first as well considering the weather.
“We have played against two strongest sides so far- England and India. However, the loss to Bangladesh was difficult. We would have decided to bowl first as well considering the condition,” Plessis told the broadcaster.
