Replying to Bangladesh’s amassed 360 runs in the first innings, Sri Lanka scored 101 runs for 4 in 38 overs in the first innings to trail by 259 runs when bails were drawn for the 2nd day (Wednesday).
Bangladesh resumed the first innings with overnight total 233 for four and were all out for 360 runs. Hosts captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who was in batting with 124 runs, contributed 133 off 269 balls featuring 13 fours and one six, another overnight batsman Zakir Hossain (9) scored 49 runs and Nayeem Hassan added 36 runs in addition to Afif Hossain’s 54 runs, scored on the first day (Tuesday)
Ramesh Mendis bagged four wickets while Asitha Fernando and Kalana Perera took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
In reply, Sri Lanka posted 101 for four in 38 overs at the end of day two. All of the four Lankan wickets were taken by Bangladeshi off spinner Nayeem Hasan conceding only 31 runs in 16 overs.
Promod Maduwantha and Ashen Bandara of Sri Lanka were in batting with 21 and 23 respectively on the 2nd day and they will resume batting on the third day (Thursday) morning.
Earlier, touring Sri Lanka Emerging Cricket team clinched the three-match unofficial ODI series 2-1 beating hosts Bangladesh Emerging team by seven wickets under D/L method in the 3rd and last match at the same venue on Saturday.
Islanders Sri Lanka made a flying start beating Bangladesh by a big margin of 186 runs in the first one-day match at BKSP in Savar, but the hosts made a good comeback in the 2nd match beating Sri Lanka by two wickets at the same venue on August 21.
The 2nd and the final four-day match is scheduled to be held at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox's Bazar during September 3-6.
