Yasir had made it to the final squad of Bangladesh team previously, but he is yet to receive his first international cap. The 24-year-old batsman is confident to have his Test cap during the series against West Indies starting from February 3 in Chattogram. 

Before the Test series, both teams took on each other in a three-match ODI series which was won by the hosts 3-0. The tourists failed to pose any resistance during the ODI series. However, they are expected to do something well in the Test series.

“We all know what a hard-working they are. The more I see them, the more surprised I am. We know how Mushfiq bhai is. He works harder than anyone. At the same time, Tamim bhai and Shakib bhai also maintain themselves with extra care. I always love to talk to them to understand how I can do better on and off the field,” Yasir said during a practice session on Tuesday. 

There is a good chance for Yasir to get inducted to international cricket in Chattogram, his home town. He said it would obviously be a special moment for him if he gets his first international cap in the port city of Chattogram.

“It’s a different type of romance— to get my first international cap in my home city. I don’t know if I get selected in the playing XI, but of course, being with the team is also something to get proud of,” he also told the media. 

Yasir was part of the Bangladesh squad during the Ireland tour before the World Cup 2019, but he was overlooked from the World Cup squad. Yasir said he is now more confident about his game and mental aspects. 

“Over the last year, I have worked hard on my mental aspects. I used to get upset some bad runs, but now, I know I have to work harder so that I can do well. I have also worked hard on some technical issues of my batting under our former batting coach Neil McKenzie. He helped me a lot to discover my strength,” Yasir added.

Yasir played a total of 51 First-class matches and amassed 3542 runs on an average of 51.33 with eight centuries and 22 fifties. He also played 73 List-A and 30 T20s in his nine-year-long career.
