Both the Bangladeshi swimmers showed dismal performances in their respective events of the 21st World Aquatics Championship' 2024 now being held in Doha, Qatar
Bangladeshi swimmer Samiul Islam Rafi took part in the heats number-1 of the Men's 50-meter freestyle and finished 3rd clocking 25.47 seconds on Friday
In the overall ranking, he finished 84th among 126 participants of the events
.He also competed in the Men's 100-meter backstroke and was placed 6th in heat number -2 with a timing of 58.95 seconds. He finished overall 47th among the 54 competitors of the event.
Another Bangladeshi swimmer Sonia Khatun took part in the women's 100 -meter butterfly and was placed 43rd among the 45 competitors with a timing of one minute 47.86 seconds.
She also took part in the women's 50- meter freestyle and finished 98th among the 107 participants of the event clocking 30.95 seconds.
A four-member team is representing Bangladesh in the World Aquatics Championship' 2024 now being held in Qatar.
They are: MB Saif (Congress Representative), AKMA Hasan Firoz (Team Official), Samiul Islam Rafi and Sonia Khatun (Swimmer).
The Bangladesh team will return home on February 19.
