Turkish authorities have detained 59 suspects across 22 provinces in nationwide operations targeting the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, the country's Interior Ministry announced on Friday.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the ministry said the raids were carried out by provincial gendarmerie commands in coordination with the Gendarmerie General Command's counter-terrorism department and chief public prosecutor's offices.
The detainees include alleged IS members, individuals who provided financial support to the terrorist group through affiliated contacts and so-called aid organizations, and those spreading group propaganda on social media, according to the ministry.
Reaffirming its commitment to national peace and security, the Interior Ministry said that operations against IS activities and its financial networks will continue, while commending the security forces and prosecutor offices involved in the crackdowns.
