Israeli military fire killed at least six Palestinians, including a nine-year-old girl, and injured more than a dozen others in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Palestinian health officials.
Four people were killed in a drone strike on a blacksmith shop in Gaza City's Sabra neighborhood, officials at Shifa Hospital said. The Israeli military confirmed carrying out strikes in the area, saying it had targeted what it described as "terrorist infrastructure" and later identified the site as a Hamas weapons production facility.
Following the initial strike, the Israeli military issued an evacuation order for the area. About an hour later, additional airstrikes hit the same location. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said 14 people were wounded in the attacks.
In central Gaza, nine-year-old Tala Abu Matar was killed by Israeli gunfire at a displacement camp, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. The Israeli military said it was not aware of the reported incident.
In a separate attack in the southern city of Khan Younis, an Israeli strike on a tent sheltering displaced people killed one Palestinian, health officials at Nasser Hospital said. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.
Although hostilities have eased significantly since a ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, Israeli strikes continue to occur almost daily. The Israeli military says it targets Hamas fighters and military infrastructure, while Palestinian officials say civilians continue to be among the casualties.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, at least 1,098 Palestinians, including more than 260 children, have been killed since the ceasefire began. During the same period, five Israeli soldiers have also been killed.
Efforts to advance the second phase of the ceasefire agreement remain stalled, with Israel and Hamas divided over key issues, including Hamas' disarmament and the reconstruction of Gaza. Meanwhile, much of Gaza's population remains displaced, with many families living in overcrowded tent camps or damaged buildings under difficult humanitarian conditions.
